While our dedicated **Fire Safety Education** site focuses on understanding fire, fire behavior, prevention, and life-safety systems, this site focuses on something equally important:

The people who respond when an emergency happens.

Emergencies can take many forms. An earthquake can strike without warning. A fire may require an immediate evacuation. An elevator passenger may become trapped. A medical emergency may happen anywhere in the building.

When these situations occur, prepared people make a difference.

This site brings together practical information, procedures, equipment, and educational materials to help our Emergency Response Team—and our residents—be better prepared to respond.

An Emergency Response Team is not simply a group of people carrying equipment.

It is a group of **trained, prepared, and coordinated people** who know what to do, where to go, whom to contact, and—just as importantly—**when to call for professional help.**

Our goal is not to turn residents into firefighters, paramedics, or rescue technicians.

Our goal is to make sure that when an emergency occurs, **people know what to do in those critical first few minutes.**

Because emergencies don't wait for us to be ready.
